‘Forever’ season 2 spoilers: Show boss on renewal odds, pitch to ABC

Forever -Is there a future for “Forever” on ABC? Given the title, you would hope that something would come to pass. The problem here is strictly that you are looking at one of the network’s lowest-rated drama series, and one that also films in New York (which is not always the cheapest place to work).

If there is one thing that the show may have going for it, though, it is that creator Matt Miller and the entire team may have plenty of fans over at the network following the big Henry / Adam story in the finale. Speaking in a finale post-mortem interview to TVLine, Miller explains that he has already done his part to campaign to the network for another season of the show, and it seems to have gone fairly well so far:

“We went and pitched our Season 2, what that would be, to ABC … It went great, and they were really pleased. They’ve been very supportive of the creative of the show all season long. I think it’s going to come down to their pilots, and their schedule, and everything else.”

The case we would make for another season of “Forever” is a pretty simple one, at least in that you can order 13 episodes of the series, and then strictly just try to figure out where it fits in and what you want to do with it. It allows for flexibility in the event that some of your fall series tank; if nothing else, we think that this could be a solid edition to a summer TV lineup, where there is less competition and you can spend some time marketing the show as its own entity.

We will know one way or another the show’s fate soon, courtesy of network upfronts. For now, head over here to read our recent piece on the show’s finale ratings, and you can sign up here to get some other TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
