David Letterman, President Barack Obama have domino talk on ‘The Late show’
When First Lady Michelle Obama first appeared on “The Late Show” recently, the majority of the substance for that interview was joking around regarding what the two parties are going to be doing now that they are leaving their current jobs. Specifically, she said that she wanted to help Dave take care of his son.
So what about the President himself? Barack Obama appears on the show Monday, and in the preview video below you can see him tell Dave about his intention to engage with him in a few games of dominoes as a means to pass the time. Also, they can meet up at Starbucks and share stories!
This appearance for Obama is the last that he will make on the series before the May 20 finale, and he has made several starting with before he was even President. He has used late-night TV in a way that is different than past Presidents, as he tries to appeal to the media on a variety of issues.
What was particularly interesting about this interview is that as it went on, it actually took a surprise detour towards getting rather emotional. Letterman lauded Obama as someone who was always very kind to him, and was good enough to appear on his show multiple times to have a little bit of fun. Meanwhile, Obama also praised Dave, saying that he has always been there over the past few decades to give everyone a laugh after a hard day of work. It was a sweet moment, and a reminder of just how few shows are left for Dave on CBS.
