‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 21 preview: Nina Dobrev’s Elena prepares for Alaric, Jo’s wedding

Jo and Alaric -

Tonight’s new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” was a hugely significant one for the future of the series. After all, this was the episode that finally turned vampire Elena back into human Elena, and made its first real move towards setting up the season’s endgame. As you know, this will lead to Nina Dobrev departing the series.

Before that happens, there is a big wedding for Alaric and Jo! There will probably be a few sentimental moments in here because of that, but even while we prepare for this ceremony, Damon is going to start to think about Elena’s change and what this means for his own future with her. By the end of this episode, everything will be set up for a potentially-epic final act, and one that will hopefully provide some happiness and smiles in the midst of all the inevitable sadness.

“I’ll Wed You in The Golden Summertime” is the title for this episode, and you can see the full synopsis for this below right away:

“It’s Alaric (Matt Davis) and Jo’s (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) wedding day and Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) do their best to help a stressed out Jo with the last minute preparations. After uncovering some life-changing news that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has been keeping from him, Stefan (Paul Wesley) takes his brother on a road trip to give him some perspective on his future with Elena. Elsewhere, when Caroline (Candice Accola) returns to Mystic Falls after dealing with the fallout of her humanity-free rampage, she begins making amends with her friends and comes to a realization about her and Stefan’s prospects of being together. Finally, when Bonnie begins having vivid nightmares that Lily (guest star Annie Wersching) is coming after her, she enlists Matt’s (Zach Roerig) help in taking Lily down.”
