Is ‘Chicago PD’ season 2, episode 20 new tonight? More on ‘Law & Order: SVU’ crossover

First, the bad news for those who have not heard yet: There is no new episode of “Chicago PD” airing on NBC tonight. Obviously the good news is that you will be seeing the show back on the air next week; not only that, but you’ve really got to watch all three Dick Wolf shows to get a full picture of what is going on with the massive crossover that has been planned for the past few months.

To help tide you over until next week, we’ve got a video below featuring LaRoyce Hawkins (Atwater) and Ice-T (Fin on “Law & Order: SVU”) talking a little bit more about the story and really getting to work together. Ice-T also tells an interesting story about how his conversations with Wolf may have helped to shape the course of events for every chapter of the franchise moving forward.

While these sort of cross-state cases tend to usually involve the federal government, the reason why the SVU is coming to Chicago is simply a matter of resources, and being the best fit for the specific needs that are being brought to the table. The first two parts of the crossover will take place in Chicago (the airtime for “Chicago PD” is being pushed up an hour next week), and then things will close off in New York City with Benson and company trying to take care of everything from there.

Once the crossover wraps, there will still be something specific for “Chicago PD” fans to enjoy; there are still two more stories still to come this season, and they will each have their fair share of important character moments.
