‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 21 preview: The crossover begins for Taylor Kinney, cast

Chicago Fire -Let’s start this “Chicago Fire” preview article with this: It is starting to feel more and more like the next episode has the most depressing title we’ve seen in a while: “We Called Her Jellybean.” It is ultimately a quick reminder that we have someone who is probably dead, and that this is a case that will not be particularly easy to watch.

If you can get past that, there is easily a whole lot to look forward to next week, beginning with the fact that this will be the beginning of a three-part crossover event between this show, “Chicago PD,” and “Law & Order: SVU.” You can watch “Chicago Fire” at its normal time, but it will also repeat the next day at 8:00 p.m. Eastern! This will turn it into a three-hour event.

If you have not seen it yet, the synopsis below details what happens that leads to the Special Victims Unit traveling from New York, and how Severide, Dawson, and the other “Chicago Fire” characters get involved:

“An apartment fire linked to a case of rape and attempted murder calls for members of the CPD to team with the Special Victims Unit, which had a similar unresolved case that has eluded them for more than 10 years. This prompts Sgt. Benson (Mariska Hargitay) to come in from New York to assist with the investigation in which she is all too familiar. Meanwhile, doubts among the squad towards one of their own causes Severide (Taylor Kinney) to lay down the law and Dawson (Monica Raymund) puts her life on the line during a call.”
