Jay Leno, Brian Williams reportedly on wish-list for David Letterman’s last shows

Late Show -Is it possible that Jay Leno could appear on “The Late Show with David Letterman“? As unlikely as that seems right now, this could be something that actually happens.

According to CNN Money, Letterman reportedly told one of his recent audiences before the start of a show that there is an offer out there to the former host of “The Tonight Show” to come aboard for one of the final episodes as a guest. Leno and Letterman have a contentious relationship that dates back to when Dave was hosting “Late Night” for NBC, and he was passed over ultimately for Jay following Johnny Carson’s retirement. Since that point Letterman has occasionally made jabs at Jay, and in an interview with Oprah Winfrey he referred to him as the “funniest” but also the one of the most “insecure” people he has ever met.

We should note here that Leno is not the only person with an offer to come aboard “The Late Show” before the doors close next month. Letterman and his team have also sent out an invite to Brian Williams, who has mostly stayed silent since his lengthy suspension from NBC News after it was revealed that he embellished portions of a story about his time in Iraq. Williams is a frequent guest on the show, and one of the sticking points in this controversy were comments that he made during one appearance.

Of the two, we would bet that Leno would appear before Williams would, mostly because we feel like Brian is going to try to stay in the shadows for as long as he can. We feel that for Jay this is just a good opportunity for the two to reminisce and talk through some old times.
