‘Teen Wolf’ season 5 premiere date revealed, will be two-night event

What's next? -MTV is not satisfied with giving you just one hour to kick off “Teen Wolf’s” season 5 premiere; they are instead turning it into a two-night event.

The network confirmed today at their upfront presentation that the Tyler Posey – Dylan O’Brien series will be back starting on Monday, June 29 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, and for that first week it will be a two-night event. There will be a second new episode airing at the same time on June 30, but in subsequent weeks the show will park itself at its typical time on Mondays. Nothing about this screams “surprise,” given that the show routinely does well in the summer, and MTV has zero reason at all to deviate from a formula that works well for them.

This will not be entirely the “Teen Wolf” you remember when the show does return, given that Tyler Hoechlin is not going to be returning full-time as Derek. The focus this time seems to be on more of the younger characters, which probably helps the show cling a little closer to its name versus just being “young adult wolf,” which is probably what it should be called at this point.

While we are not sure just how much more this series has left in the tank (it has a pretty high cast turnover ratio as it is), we have not heard anything in regards to this being the final season. We’ll have to wait and see what more comes out about “Teen Wolf” as we get closer to June.

This has proven to be a very busy day for MTV already. The network has just confirmed that they will be kicking off the new season of “Awkward” in August, and that “Faking It” will be starting the same exact day.
