NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results: Koryn Hawthorne, Sawyer Fredericks, and Meghan Linsey score with iTunes

Sawyer -Was last night the official “welcome to the party” of Koryn Hawthorne on “The Voice“? It certainly feels that way. We were worried that her “Make It Rain” would suffer from it being so soon since we had Matt McAndrew perform the song on a live show, but it’s instead allowed her to surge to her highest position to date on the iTunes sales chart.

As of this writing (which is around 2:30 p.m. Eastern), Koryn’s take on the song (famously covered by Ed Sheeran for “Sons of Anarchy”) was at #3, which basically guarantees that it is going to get that much-coveted multiplier. She is very likely to be going through to the next round. This is just a great night for Pharrell Williams in general, given that his other artist Sawyer Fredericks was right behind her with his performance of “Iris.” Given that this Goo Goo Dolls classic is so ubiquitous in pop culture at this point and the fact that Sawyer got it to #4 is more or less proof to us that the kid has the inside track to winning the season by a wide margin. He does eventually need to take on some riskier song choices, though, if he wants this win to be truly spectacular.

After these two, there is a pretty wide divide between these two and who we have in third place in Meghan Linsey. Her cover of “Home” was at #25, which is probably still enough to secure her a place in the next round.

Some of the other singers who are probably in decent shape include Hannah Kirby and India Carney, who are right inside the top 50, and Kimberly Nichole at #54. There’s a chance they could be in danger, but it feels like they are in decent shape. After that, we’re not so sure about the other four at all. We’ve got Corey Kent White, Joshua Davis, Deanna Johnson, and Rob Taylor fighting for two spots. Right now, we’d give the edge to Corey and Joshua, but time will tell.
