‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6, episode 18 review: Enzo’s story; Stefan’s change
If you have felt like the Enzo character has been somewhat under-served throughout “The Vampire Diaries” season 6 so far, you are not alone with that feeling. We’re right there with you. As much as we enjoy this character for the most part, his story had been lacking over the past several weeks. So to suddenly learn a thing or two more about his past was nice, especially since it was none other than Lily Salvatore who turned him in the first place!
Enzo is an interesting guy, and what we hope moving ahead now is that he gets to actually spend some more time with Damon. Stefan is better suited dealing with Lily and Caroline now, especially after the former worked to bring him back. Caroline, meanwhile, is still very much on a bender after losing her humanity. She’s impossible to control, and impossibly dangerous at the same time.
Now, let us turn to Elena for a minute, since it feels completely clear now that she is a character who is thinking about a future more so than the present, and that she wants what Jo has. The show is paving the way for Nina Dobrev’s character with every minute that passes by, and Elena’s feelings are going to force Damon into making a big decision … at least in time.
Oh, and it turns out that there are some very powerful witches out there. That mythology is only getting crazier.
We didn’t love every part of this episode, but it was nice to have more Enzo, just as it is also nice to get to the point where we can see the finish line for Elena. Grade: B-.
