‘iZombie’ season 1, episode 6 review: Is Liv ready to move on with Lowell?
It seems that Liv is not a lone zombie in the world of “iZombie”. In fact there are a lot more of her kind roaming around then she realizes. There’s Blaine who is turning people into zombie’s left, right and center to build his brain business and now Liv has met Lowell… a very handsome zombie who is very interested in striking up a dating relationship with Liv. She has accepted a date with him, but will it go any further then that?
Major: After getting his butt kicked at the skate park looking for Jerome, Ravi and Liv learn about Major’s run in with the Candyman. Liv asks him to stop trying to be Batman, but he doesn’t listen and starts going through Jerome’s old YouTube skate videos looking for the man that beat him up. When he shows the picture of the Candyman to Ravi, he sees Blaine in the picture with him and after sharing the news with Liv they know that Blaine is behind the missing kids.
Blaine: One of his clients went crazy and killed his delivery boy and ate his brain in a frenzy when her order didn’t arrive in time. Things get worse for Blaine when Clive comes into his shop looking for information on Blaine’s dead delivery boy, but Blaine is able to talk his way out of it even though his shop is one of the only ones that sell the food found in the victims stomach. When he figures out who killed his delivery boy, Blaine heads over to her house and kills her.
Liv: The case of the week has her eating rotten brains and they aren’t sitting well with her, giving her a serious vertigo… not a good time to feel sick since she’s got her first date with Lowell. When it starts to get worse, she calls Lowell and cancels her date with him. Lowell comes over to her house with drugs to help with her anxiety saying that he had the same issue a few weeks ago. While they didn’t get their official date, they did share a drink and talk about their exes. Lowell goes in for the kiss, but she pulls away saying she’s not ready to move on from Major because she still has feelings for him. After wrapping up the case of the week, she realized that she needs move forward with out Major, so she finds Lowell and lets that kiss happen between them.
We were happy to see Liv making a connection with someone other then Ravi (even though we are still kinda hoping that they may hook up at some point). The only problem we had was Lowell saying that he gets his brains from working at a funeral home. As a licensed funeral director we have to say that unless a body comes in autopsied, brains aren’t laying around a funeral home. We are not Dr. Frankenstein and do not pull internal organs out of the body – that is done by a pathologist and not at a funeral home, so it was a little unbelievable. Episode grade: C+
