‘Outlander’ episode 11 preview: Will Sam Heughan’s Jamie come to Claire’s rescue?
Tonight, “Outlander” painted the latest dangerous situation for its main characters, one that led to Jamie and Dougal being sent away at least temporarily, while Claire and Geillis were each arrested for witchcraft. This was a very dirty stunt seemingly pulled off by Laoghaire, who remains completely obsessed with the idea that Jamie will be with her at all costs and that she is a dirty thief for taking him away. She’s basically the “Fatal Attraction” origin story.
Next week, we move the story on to “The Devil’s Mark,” a story that once again puts Sam Heughan’s character into complete rescue mode. Will he be too pleased with Claire this time? Probably not, given that he warned Claire about Geillis, and while she was trying here to do the right thing in responding to a warning, she instead fell victim to a trap. We’re not going to say that the official synopsis below (via Starz) necessarily gives away much, but it certainly is better than nothing at all:
“As Claire and Geillis are put on trial for witchcraft, Jamie is able to rescue Claire, who has unearthed a secret from Geillis’ past.”
We do find ourselves curious in learning more about Geillis in this episode, mostly because she is a woman we do not fully understand just yet. She is capable of fiendish plots and also of making Claire feel like somewhat of a prude, and this is quite the unusual combination. Also, we know already that magic at least exists in some form within this world. As a non-book-reader, we are curious to uncover more of its capabilities and limitations.
