‘Outlander’ episode 10 preview: What to expect in ‘By the Pricking of My Thumbs’

“Outlander” returned to Starz last week with an episode that brought you much more of the Jamie Fraser backstory, and helped us to further understand that while he may be a good man in many ways, he is flawed and at times clings far too much to what tradition tells him to do.

Saturday’s “By the Pricking of My Thumbs” is a more traditional installment, or about as traditional as one can be given that we are only ten episodes in now to a series. The perspective is back in a more familiar place, and Claire’s story will take a variety of twists and turns. As with our preview article last week, we have no intention of giving anything major away (though we reckon book readers have an idea what is coming). Instead, what we have for you below are five super-vague teasers that should at least give you something more to discuss and think about until the episode airs.

1. Claire proves once again that she is far feistier and bolder than the average woman of her time. She makes at least one move that would surprise even Jamie.

2. Expect more than one epic battle scene in this episode, and you will probably start to think that the stunt coordinators have some of the best jobs out of anyone on the screw.

3. As you know, the Duke of Sandringham is making his first appearance in this episode. He is a political man who can be reasoned with, but favors are not his specialty.

4. Remember that cliffhanger in Jamie and Claire’s bedroom last week? You’ll be seeing that story continue.

5. One general tease we can offer you is this: Actions in this world always have consequences. Sometimes, they do not happen in the most expected ways.
