Showtime still trying to get David Lynch back for ‘Twin Peaks’

Showtime -We’ve said all along that nothing is permanent when it comes to “Twin Peaks” and David Lynch. While he may have said that he is not returning to the project at the moment, we’ve come to know over the years that this is a very unusual guy who follows the beat of his own drum. He is not going to operate in the same way that most others would.

This is what brings us to the new report per Variety, stating that there are some talks now suggesting that Lynch could return to the show, and network head David Nevins is particularly intent on securing him mere days after he expressed dismay over the financial commitment given in order for him to achieve his vision.

We don’t necessarily think for Showtime the sole problem here is moving forward without Lynch, given that he has already been involved in the process so far and they could conceivably move forward without him with some of his ideas. However, we would be more concerned if we were the network by the angry fan reaction if he doesn’t come back. No one wants to see a “Twin Peaks” without one of the original architects, and this announcement puts way more leverage in Lynch’s camp to ensure that he gets what he wants.

Given how long this entire process has taken so far (Lynch already said that he has been in negotiations with the network for more than a year on a deal), we don’t presume that there is any firm timetable as to when some more news on the subject of the show will be announced.

For now, just let us know in the comments if you’d watch a revival of “Twin Peaks” without Lynch; also, click here to see a video many former cast members made supporting him.
