‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Chloe Bennet previews Skye’s future after Jaiying reveal
Obviously, the executive producers of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” are enjoying getting to challenge the character of Skye in every way possible this season. It started with what happened to Cal and the uncovering of her powers in the midseason finale, and that has continued with her struggle to continue to figure out how to use them now. All of this is ultimately building towards her joining the Inhumans, and meeting a woman in Jaiying who is going to help to train her.
The twist? This woman is also her biological mother, though she does not quite know it. This is not a secret that will probably stay buried forever, mostly because if it was, the show would lose a whole lot of the excitement out of the reveal. As Chloe Bennet explains to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the major storylines moving forward is going to revolve around her character discovering where her loyalties lie:
“It’s going to be the main struggle for her for the rest of the season and for Coulson. Skye is an Inhuman and a SHIELD agent and it will cause a lot of sticky situations for her. It’ll be interesting once she finds out Jaiying is her mom … [an important question here is] who are you loyal to — your blood or to the people you have made to be your family?”
To make matters worse, the people who Skye is loyal to are currently battling the Real SHIELD, and they may not be in power for very long at all. To say that this is complicated would be creating one of the biggest understatements ever.
