‘Outlander’ episode 10 preview: Will the Duke of Sandringham be an ally, or a monster?

At this point in “Outlander,” we certainly understand Jamie Fraser doing almost anything that he can to reduce some of the burden that has been placed upon his clan. Just look upon his situation for a moment. This is a man who risked everything in order to rescue Claire from Black Jack Randall, and in the process put a serious price on his head for his actions.

If there is one person who could help him to move forward with his life and potentially avoid Black Jack’s clutches, it is the Duke of Sandringham. Unfortunately, we’re not getting much of a clear indication in the promo below that he is a man particularly eager to help. Instead, he is a man perhaps more interesting in just preserving his own self-interest, and that may tie into siding with Randall over Jamie. We see weaponry in this promo, just as we also see Claire telling James to “come back to her.”

In that one line from Claire, you should at least have a little bit of help that there is some sort of spirit of romance still alive between these two parties as we follow up whip-gate last time. That was one of the more uncomfortable scenes we’ve ever had to watch; it was demeaning to Claire, and she demanded a form of justice for what was mistreatment. Now, we have to see if Jamie holds true to the promise that he made.

So long as you have not read the books, you can at least expect one or two surprises coming up.
