‘Justified’ season 6, episode 13 (series finale) preview: ‘The Promise,’ the end for Raylan, Boyd, Ava

“Justified” fans, it is all almost over. Next week, we have “The Promise,” and a battle to see whether or not anyone is going to leave Harlan in one piece. We almost would not have the series finale any other way: We’ve seen characters fall and relationships fall apart, and now what we have left after the dust settles are three characters going head-to-head-to-head. While series finales do typically come with high expectations, this one feels particularly epic on the surface.

We’ll have a little bit more to share after tonight’s episode airs (the update’s now below), but for now, just check out the extremely-short synopsis. As you would expect, it doesn’t give away much:

“In the series finale, one last battle between Raylan, Boyd and Ava will determine who—if anyone—gets out of Harlan alive.”

One thing that is somewhat surprising here is that in the age of almost every series finale getting blown up to atmospheric proportions, we’re going to see something rather different here with “Justified”: At least based on the schedule that we’re seeing for now, this could be over within the standard run time.

After tonight’s episode, what they have done well is simplified the story somewhat for Raylan. He no longer has too many ties to his family, and he even seems to be ready to atone for some of his own mistakes. Was letting his affection for Constable Bob get in the way? That just depends on where Bob is now. Within the span of an hour, we saw the full extent of Raylan’s emotional conflict.

For the time being, let’s ask you this: What do you want to see during the “Justified” series finale? Share with a comment.
