‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2, episode 16 review: Skye’s blast from the past; could Melinda May turn?

Agents of SHIELD -As if Skye did not already have to deal with the fact that her father was crazy and that Coulson and May were busy taking on the Real SHIELD on Tuesday night’s new “Agents of SHIELD” episode, she also had to take on something else rather unfortunate: The reality that Raina was still out there, and she would have to stay in the same facility with her if she wants to train to become better with her powers.

Oh, and her mother is also still alive. Poor Skye just can’t have it easy, can she? There will be some interesting decisions for her to make in the coming weeks, as she starts to understand more and more of her powers.

Also, this story asked a few other questions, including whether or not Robert Gonzales could flip Melinda May into going after Coulson. He made a compelling pitch for her to hunt down Coulson, and ensure that the Real SHIELD was completely unified. We already know that he wants Phil out, and he is willing to do almost everything that he can in order to get her aboard. That includes even offering her a spot at the table. Isn’t he the compelling sort? You better believe it. The group had already worked to try to get to Simmons, as she tried to work on answering what to Mack and Bobbi what is a key question: What’s in the toolbox?

Of course, the funny thing about Simmons is that she’s a heck of an actress. She already fooled HYDRA, so why not try to fool Bobbi for a little while and hand off a sandwich to boot? Yes, we are officially hungry now. Thanks, Jemma.

Also, thanks to the writers for this episode. This season is starting to get really fun, and we just wish that some of those people who bailed early on were still around to see it now. Grade: A-.
