‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 9 preview: First details on Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss in ‘New Business’

“Mad Men” threw us back into the fire with its midseason premiere Sunday, and it did so with Don Draper confronting his mortality, and Peggy Olson realizing more and more that she wants to be spontaneous … even if she is not entirely sure just yet that she can be. This is a perpetual work-in-progress for her, to say the least.

It is unclear as to whether or not Peggy’s unexpected romance is going to continue next week, much in the same way that almost every detail on the series is still unclear. AMC is never particularly keen to share details on upcoming episodes, and tonight there was not even a promo that aired after the one we just watched. All we can tell you for certain is that “New Business” is the title for the next installment, and the short synopsis for this is below:

“Roger gives Don some unwanted advice; Peggy and Stan disagree over an account’s personnel; Harry asks for Don’s blessing.”

The linchpin of the synopsis to us the final part of it. What could Harry be asking for a “blessing” for? Could he be trying to make a pass at Megan? There are not many things that you ask for a blessing for unless it is somehow closely connected to the first person, like a pet project or an ex-lover. Few other possibilities make sense.

As for Peggy and Stan, they to various degrees have been in disagreement for a good percentage of the series’ run. There is nothing there we consider to be stunning.
