‘Madam Secretary’ episode 20 preview: ‘The Necessary Art’ features a breakup, a missing submarine

Madam Secretary -Fans of “Madam Secretary,” be prepared for a long summer. There are only three more episodes of the CBS show this season, and that means that there are going to be a few important stories that are going to be touched on and explored heavily before the season ends. In general terms, one of these is going to be watching Henry and Elizabeth struggle to avoid interference on their personal lives from their professional lives.

For some specific evidence of that, take a look at what we have for you below in the synopsis for “The Necessary Act,” the installment airing on CBS next week. One of the biggest plots of this story is going to be seeing Henry and Elizabeth struggle with a crisis in Russia that just so happens to come as he is trying to give a lecture in the country:

“While Henry is in Russia giving a lecture on fundamentalism, Elizabeth must navigate tricky political waters when a Russian nuclear submarine vanishes in American waters. Also, Stevie breaks up with her older boyfriend.”

Are you surprised by the Stevie story? You really should not be, since this is something that was almost inevitable for the Stevie character. Given the tone in which that character was presented, it was obviously never meant to be a permanent relationship.

After this episode, you better be prepared for at least a little bit of waiting. “Madam Secretary” is not going to return to CBS until April 26 after “The Necessary Act,” as there will be a week off due to the ACM Awards.
