‘Gotham’ spoilers: The Penguin’s war in ‘The Anvil or the Hammer’

Gotham -Before “Gotham” season 1 comes to a close, there are a variety of different moments you should expect to see unfold. One of them is the Penguin potentially starting up the biggest war that we’ve seen in Gotham City to date. Suffice it to say, the GCPD are going to have quite a series of struggles ahead for them.

Fox released late this past week some of the official details for “The Anvil or the Hammer,” which is the April 27 episode of the show and the penultimate one of the season. You’re going to see more of Milo Ventimiglia in the part of the Ogre, which gives credence to the idea that he is the biggest villain of the season the rest of the way … at least outside of Oswald Cobblepot. Take a look at the synopsis below:

“The Ogre breaks down Barbara’s emotions, while Gordon and Bullock go to great lengths to track him down. Meanwhile, Penguin leads a massacre, beginning an epic war, while Bruce learns the truth about Wayne Enterprises and Nygma deals with his recent actions.”

What is so important about this synopsis is that it tells you more about almost every character important to the show long-term. For example, we imagine that Barbara Keen does still have a major role to play in the series’ future, even if we do not necessarily know what that role is as a whole just yet. Meanwhile, the Penguin is obviously not going anywhere in the future, and it feels about time that we start to get Nygma closer to becoming the Riddler. We know that this is happening, and it’s a question of when more so than if. (The show has already taken long enough getting him away from everyone else at the GCPD.

Yesterday, some elect cast members for the show were at WonderCon in Anaheim. If you want to read more about that, head over to the link here! Also, sign up now to get some other TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Fox.)
