‘NCIS’ season 12, episode 20 spoilers: See Zoe meet Tony’s dad! (photo)
Tuesday night’s new “NCIS” episode is going to be entitled “No Good Deed,” and one of the particularly important themes of it is going to be Agent Tony DiNozzo taking his relationship with Zoe Keates to the next level. How else are you supposed to interpret her getting to meet Tony Sr.? He is coming back into town, and given that he can be a sometimes-intimidating character, we would certainly understand if she was feeling a little nervous about it.
While we have said this before, we feel like this will by far be the most important episode for the Zoe – Tony relationship. Sometimes, you really do not get a sense how you full feel about someone until you are completely in your element with them, and around people you’ve known for almost your entire life. For him, having Zoe around McGee or Gibbs is one thing, but Tony Sr. is a very different story.
What is notable to us about this photo is that it does not appear entirely like this meeting is going all that well. Is this us reading too much into a photo that could be taken out of context? It is possible, and it certainly would not be the last time something like this happens. We feel sometimes like promo departments intentionally select some photos that give you the greatest potential for conversation online, regardless of whether or not they are an appropriate representation of the story.
Luckily this is not a case where you will be forced to wait for a horrendously-long time to find out some answers.

I want Ziva (Cote) back! Pls get rid of Zoe!
AGENT CARTER

Tony and Zoe were involved when they worked together in the Philly PD. He left Philly because his commitment issues, but he is “evolving” now and has slipped easily back into a relationship with Zoe – it’s not rushed it feels very natural. As for the deal with the handcuffs, it was light -hearted not anyway smutty. Some people are just fifty shades of prudish or one shade of NCIS – tiva (NEVER HAPPENED PEOPLE).

I totally agree with your post AGENT CARTER. I just hope that the upcoming episode is not the swan song for Zoe and Tony.

With all the recent references to Ziva on NCIS and the hype behind “The Dovekeepers” I wouldn’t be surprised if Ziva makes a return at some point. Fans have been really noisy about getting Cote back on the show and she has admitted in interviews that she misses it so maybe a reconciliation is in the works? Time will tell. I like Zoe ( even though yes I will confess I’m also a TIVA fan) but I still think there is an element of depth missing in the relationship because it was rushed and not developed over time like TIVA. The cat and mouse of Tony and Ziva had been really fun over the years and I like it because the show kept me guessing and yes I still wonder what really happened in Paris and did Tony and Ziva have an intimate good-bye or not? The ending was rather ambiguous. We fans as always will just have to wait and see.

There were many holes we do not know about like Paris, which I assume maybe they shared a bed and ended up in each other’s arms in the morning which sounded very possible. When he said “You sure looked comfy enough,” I got the feeling that he woke up before Ziva did and maybe she was in his arms and I think it made them happy to be that way. They lied about who took the couch so I’m assuming no one did. lol In Israel, it’s very possible they were intimate and it’s still un clear how long he was actually there with her. Michael Weatherly did say they never dated but they were star crossed so many people think that they may have been lovers at one point. While in Israel, they were alone, they weren’t co workers anymore, and Gibbs wasn’t present, they finally admitted their feelings for one another so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they did have sex but will we ever know for sure?? I’m hoping Cote comes back the show and she has been hinting more and more about it, even some of the cast has hinted to it this past season. We will have to see. Again, if Tony is in a relationship with Zoe and it continues…I think she’s a better fit for him then some women he could end up with.

There was also a period of months when Mossad was spying on Ziva in DC. They had taken pictures of Tony visiting Ziva’s apartment late at night. Ziva was of course very angry when she found out.

There were many times in those 8 years of working together that you suspected that they were lovers. My first suspect was undercovers when the two FBI agents were convinced that they went all the way and even McGee had to wonder if they would. When he was looking in on them through the camera, they looked very natural and comfortable with each other. The second time was the time you mentioned. When that guy from the Israeli safe house comfronted Ziva about spending so much time with Tony and while Gibbs was gone, the rules didn’t apply anymore two them. He was going to Ziva’s place a lot but maybe they were just having movie nights and maybe Ziva was helping him be a better team leader. Either way, he was growing closer to Ziva. Another time was when Tony and Ziva were in Paris. Tony tells Ziva that she sure looked comfy enough. I always suspected that neither one of them took the couch and that they slept in the same better together and when they woke up, maybe they were in each others arms. Whatever happened made Tony very happy that morning. Of course Israel. That’s the big one for me because he was going to Israel to change things with Ziva and their relationship in the first place so you have to suspect that they were going to be intimate together when he got there. It didn’t exactly work out that way but when he got there and confessed him feelings for her, they weren’t co workers anymore and Gibbs wasn’t present. He even lied to Gibbs about finding her so he could be with her longer so I truly believe they gave into eachother there. Still not clear how long he was actually in Israel with Ziva but he spent months tracking her down. I can’t help but believe we will see Cote de Pablo back on the show eventually and maybe these things will be cleared up. I think us, as fans deserve at least that. We will have to see what happens. ;)

Tony told Gibbs that he was going “off the grid for a few days.” and he was in Ziva’s house. Few usually means “not a lot”–I would say 3 to 5 days..
Dana Jo jGraslie
April 9, 2015 @ 2:20 am
Exactly. He was alone with her in that house for 3 to 5 days. A lot of things can happen in that amount of time and I still think a lot did happen while he was alone with her. lol I doubt they just spent that time talking and just sitting around. Especially when Tony and Ziva knew very well that they might not see each other again for a long, long time, if ever. You have to make the time count and after the “olive grove” scene, I’m pretty convinced they did.

They did leap into this Keats relationship too fast. They were together by the second episode they were in and I don’t care what anyone says, there was nothing gradual about it. The handcuff scene in the bullpen is what really through me off. Even if I did see similarities to Ziva from her first scene, the handcuff scene wasn’t necessary. At first, I thought Zoe was sweet, despite the Ziva similarities but jumping into that relationship so fast, is really what turned many viewers away from it. I will see how she turns out on Tuesday and make my final decision about if she is actually good for him or not and I do think it’s sweet that Senior does seem to be trying hard to make a good impression with these two and I shutter to think how Senior messes up with this one. We will have to see how this episode turns out because some people even want Senior to pass on but would they really retire the RW character that everyone loves soo much??

Tony could do worse, I guess. I am ultimately a Tiva fan but if that can’t happen right now, Zoe isn’t the worst he could end up with. I do wonder how this could go wrong though. What does Senior do this time?? Obviously from the promo, it’s so bad that Tony stops talking to Senior. Hmmm, I just want an episode with Tony and Senior to go smoothly but I guess it’s never really been their thing. Some people have commented and have said they wanted Senior to pass on already but McGee already lost his father this season and Gibbs lost his has last year. isn’t that enough? Glasberg did say earlier this season that things with Zoe weren’t going to be permanent but that doesn’t mean this has to end in the next episode. We will have to see what happens.

I don’t mind the lack of depth in the Tony/Zoe relationship. Since Zoe is only an occasionally recurring character, it would be difficult to show great intensity without turning the show into a romance vehicle, which it is not. For reasons of allowing Tony to grow, evolve, and not be tied down by a character who is no longer on the show, I am hoping that the mostly off screen relationship with Zoe continues. As for Senior coming back – just once I’d like to see it not implied that Tony is the bad guy with Gibbs and other team members fawning over Senior while treating Tony as if he’s an unreasonable jerk. I’d like a Senior episode where it’s about Tony’s handling a dangerous mission, showing some bravery and heroism with Senior looking on in stunned appreciation. Course since Gibbs and McGee are the only ones ever put into danger these days, my little Senior fantasy will never be able to happen, unless we see Senior looking at Gibbs or McGee in stunned appreciation. Who knows, given the writing we’ve had all season with the all pervasive super McGibbs agenda, we might see the latter version on Tuesday.

I think people tend to forget how crappy of a father Senior was when Tony was growing up. He left Tony alone in a hotel room once when they were together. Of course Tony is going to hold a grudge against his father and no mater what, things always tend to go bad when he visits so you can’t blame Tony for wanting to keep Zoe out of this mess. She sure looks wrapped up in it in that photo. Either she’s telling them to stop fighting, or she herself says something that makes them mad but ultimately Senior says Tony isn’t talking to him so I wonder what goes down. Again, I have Tiva in my heart and will remain that way but Zoe hasn’t done anything to make me dislike her. I didn’t approve of that handcuff scene but I highly doubt they will keep doing those scenes so if Tony is happy with her by the end of this episode and makes things right with Senior, I will try to be happy for him.

Tony only saw his father a few weeks out of the year after his mother died when he was 8 years old. The rest of the time he was in boarding schools and summer camps. Senior really didn’t do right by his son when Tony needed him the most. Can you imagine what it would be like to lose your mother at age 8 and then be shipped off to boarding school? Senior was a lousy dad. I think this betrayal is key to Tony having commitment issues. When the person you love the most dies and then the person who should be there isn’t by choice, giving your heart to anyone else seems very risky.

I’m put as a guest but I replied to your last message. No, you can’t blame Tony for being angry at Senior for his crappy childhood and it’s also not right that team thinks that Tony is always too hard on Senior when he comes to visit. They should understand as a team what Senior put Tony through growing up and that it would continue to effect their relationship now that he’s grown. Tony only had a few good relationships with women on the show. Wendy, who he was engaged to, Jeanne which was doomed from the start because it was all based on a lie, EJ which I have myself convinced was just to be sexually satisfied but also to distract himself from being jealous over Ziva and Ray, and of course Ziva herself. They never dated in those 8 years of working together but I don’t that in Seasons 9 and 10, they were slowly taking things futher. Tony in Season 10 made his feelings for Ziva pretty clear, especially during her fathers death and during the Bodnar arc. In the beginning of season 11, Tony was going all out when he was planning to go be with Ziva in Israel and I think their feelings were pretty clear by that point. Zoe is who he is now dating and we will see Tuesday where that leads but I’m pretty sure the commitment issue thing by be brought up in the next episode with Senior because he still resents his dad for so many things. Anyways, we will have to wait and see what happens but I have to believe that Senior and Tony will talk things out and make up like they do in every other episode together.

I don’t know that the other members of the team knew about Tony’s childhood. Tony lied about it for a long time. The only one that I saw him share with was Ziva. He found a roll of film and had it developed and there was a picture of Tony with his mother right before she died. I remember that Ziva commented about how beautiful she was.
The thing with Tony taking Ziva home to his apartment after her father died was a big moment for him. Tony never brought women to his apartment. He always visited his ladies at their place. He had a single bed in his bedroom, no room for company. There was a scene with his father where he explained that his apartment was a place for him to be alone and escape from everything. Ziva was the only woman that we ever saw in Tony’s apartment. For him to bring Ziva home to his apartment to take care of her was a game change for him. He also found her friend, Shmeil and brought him to the apartment. This was in the episode, Shiva. If you see Zoe in Tony’s apartment, then it is probably a serious relationship–that is if the writers know the history of the characters.
Michael Weatherly can say there was nothing between Tony and Ziva but that means he missed all of the clues that were written into the script. I think that he is smarter than that. TPTB may be telling him to back pedal.on the whole issue.
My own personal opinion is that Ziva and Tony were soul mates. They both had crappy dads. They understood each other. Ziva’s father left his wife for Orli, a younger woman. He trained Ziva to be an assassin and sent her on a suicide mission. When she got in trouble in Somalia, he didn’t even attempt to rescue her. Gibbs and McGee went with Tony because they probably knew Tony would go it alone if he had to. .Ziva and Gibbs similarly had a special relationship. They both had the job of killing people, Gibbs as a sniper and Ziva as an assassin. I so loved this show until Cote left. Almost every episode kept me glued to my TV.

Well, in the recent episode Zoe is not only in Tony’s apartment, she also has a key to his apartment and is meeting Senior. Yes, they are implying that things are serious between them. Tony has said in this episode that him and Zoe are “in a good place” but he has yet to say he loves her and seemed very annoyed by her in this episode. I just don’t see this working out too long. He’s with her and I think he’s comfortable but that’s about it. Michael Weatherly saying that, I don’t think he was implying that they meant nothing to each other. He said they were co workers, friends and they never dated but he did say they were star crossed. I take that as the love was there, the feelings were there, the concern was there, and the potential to be in a good relationship was there but Gibbs and rule 12 got in their way. I’m happy that we got Tango, Whisky, Foxtrot and Past, Present, and Future because at least he was going to go to Israel to spend time with Ziva and alone and to change things about their relationship. Have to be happy with the little things. He did get to spend time alone with her in Israel. As for Zoe, I don’t hate her but she won’t ever be Ziva to Tony. I’m still convinced that they will be together in the end. We just have to wait it out.

They could have really given Tony some interesting drama if the writers hadn’t decided after Flesh and Blood to turn Senior into a comic, aging, rapscallion instead of a darker, less sympathetic character that was alluded to several times in the Bellasario days. I really hope that the upcoming episode isn’t another in a pretty consistent line of Senior episodes where we see Tony treated as the bad guy while everyone coddles Senior.
