‘Blue Bloods’ season 5, episode 18 preview: Frank’s dilemma in ‘Through the Looking Glass’

Blue Bloods season 5After some time away due to the NCAA tournament, “Blue Bloods” is set to bring back some of the action on Friday night with an all-new episode. This is a chance to see some of the dynamics between Frank and the media play out, and while we certainly understand that this on the surface sounds boring, it is far more interesting and complex than you would first imagine. Hopefully, at least one of the two sneak peeks is proof of that.

1. Journalism vs. ethics – This is the one that gives you the meat of the story for Tom Selleck’s character this week, as he goes frustrated that a journalist is doing everything in their power to keep a source hidden in a murder case. We know that there is such a thing as anonymity and sources are important to keep the majority of the time, but isn’t there a point where secrets become too dangerous? It’s a circumstantial issue, since preserving integrity is one thing while ensuring justice and safety are important in their own right. There is ultimately not much of an easy answer here, so we would advise you not to expect one.

2. Reagan family dinner – Now, we get to the controversial part of this discussion. Should these “family dinner” parts of the show continue in perpetuity, even if not all of them really have much of a point? This one is mostly just a discussion about what certain characters would do if they could go back and make different decisions. We suppose that this is interesting from a character point of view, but that is about it. There is not anything else particularly enlightening that comes out of watching it, and it may be better suited framed within the context of the episode.
