‘American Idol XIV’ results: Did #IdolFanSave help Rayvon Owen, Daniel Seavey?
By the time we made it to the end of “American Idol XIV” Wednesday night, it felt pretty darn obvious what was going to happen: A vocal showdown between Rayvon Owen and Daniel Seavey. Here’s the interesting thing about them: One is a vocal coach who has stumbled a bit with predictability, and the other is a kid with great potential, but actually needs some vocal coaching to figure out what his real register is.
The funny thing here is that we really felt for Daniel going into tonight with this #IdolFanSave twist where the person eliminated would be decided on social media. We haven’t been his biggest fan, but he’s from the west coast and has an immediate disadvantage over the other people still on the show. Fox did put up a live stream, but how many people really knew about that in advance in California or his home state of Oregon? Probably not many.
Now that we’ve said this, we feel like it is pretty obvious that Rayvon was superior. Daniel’s sweet, but he is just lacking the polish at this point in the competition. Rayvon needs to work a little bit more on taking risks in song choice; even tonight with “Since U Been Gone,” we basically heard this before during Hollywood Week. That does not change our feeling that this was a slam-dunk decision, but it is something that could hurt him more in the future.
Ultimately, Rayvon did advance to the next round in the competition! We’re happy for the move, mostly because this is right for giving us the best overall performance week after week. As for Daniel, he at least had this great experience, and he can use this to try and grow and improve.

Daniel couldn’t sing a note, was embarrassing to watch and unfortunately got voted into the places of MUCH BETTER performers, simply by young girls not understanding talent, as clearly DANIEL doesn’t have any! It is a relief this wannabe has gone… maybe I’ll start watching again.
