ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4, episode 18 preview: First scene with Bellamy Young, Lauren Bowles

More scoop -For all of the things that could happen to Mellie on “Scandal,” having her half-sister Harmony arrive is something that is only adding to the insanity. This is someone who Bellamy Young’s character does not want to be around, and it goes far deeper than that. As a matter of fact, it really does not seem like someone she has a whole lot of respect for either.

In the sneak peek below, you can see Mellie ranting and raving about her without the character (played by Lauren Bowles of “True Blood” fame) even showing up. What this tells us is ultimately more about Mellie than it is about Harmony: She is judgmental, and refuses to even except Harmony as her family given that she is a country bumpkin, and could not be more different from her if she tried. She sees her as a major thorn in her side for a potential Presidential run, even if she managed to make it through as the First Lady without any curveballs being thrown her way.

If we were to look at Harmony objectively, we would almost see her as more of an asset then as a problem, if you could train and use her in the right way. She is someone with the sort of southern style that would appeal to the southern states, and you could put her on the campaign trail as a relatable person who will stand up from the everyday man or woman growing up in the region. Maybe her past precludes this from happening, but Mellie tends to make matters much harder for herself more often than not.

Do you think that Mellie’s sister could really cause some problems or do you see her as a solution that Mellie just doesn’t see?
