‘Mad Men’ season 7 video: More data than you could possibly hope to have

Come Sunday night, the beginning of the end is here: “Mad Men” season 7 (the final season), episode 8 is finally here. AMC has done a very good job of keeping us waiting, and the fact that Matthew Weiner keeps almost every little detail about the series a secret hasn’t made things any easier on fans.

Well, the video below may be the most remarkable promo that we’ve seen for the show’s return on Sunday so far, and there is one reason for it: Someone apparently went through all of this and actually wrote down all of the data here. For example, there have apparently been 18 different women to sleep with Don Draper (that we know of), almost a thousand cigarettes smoked, four slaps, and a variety of other random bits of information. Who knew that there were so many number-crunchers working on this show with AMC?

By the time that this series actually wraps up, these numbers are almost sure to increase. For the time being, the only real thing we have to say about this is that it’s a pretty fun way in which to view the series. Emotionally, it is harder to pin the show down, but this tends to happen when you have a man like Don at the center of the show, who tends to live so much within his own head. We never have a complete picture of what he is thinking, or what is behind his decision to pour a drink, smoke a cigarette or cheat on someone he loves.

These final episodes should explore not just who Don is now, but also who he wants to be, and what he ultimately would like his legacy to be when all is said and done.
