‘Survivor: Worlds Apart’ preview: The mad merge scramble

Worlds Apart -Merge episodes of “Survivor” tend to be the most fun, and tonight’s new episode of “Worlds Apart” feels very much in that vein. The remaining twelve players are coming together into one tribe, but is it possible that there are still a few surprises in store for them? There may be at least one.

The new preview below suggests that the new tribe may be handed a twist that Jeff Probst hyped up before the season. We know that it is coming at some point, and that it is something that he had been wanting to try out for some time. In his mind, it plays out really well; Probst has been known for hyperbole (look back at how he hyped “Survivor: Caramoan” up before the season), so we are currently listing ourselves as “cautiously optimistic” in terms of this twist.

Whatever it is, it may not do a whole lot to alter the entire fabric of the game. We’re entering the merge with Four No Collar players, three White Collar players, and then five still remaining from Blue Collar. The great thing about this is that there is no true majority, and it could be up to the likes of the White Collar as to where they want to go here. They will be in the minority either way, and it is probably to their benefit to come up with a place for them that will make the most sense long-term. If we were them, we’d pick the Blue Collar gang. Jenn, Hali, and Joe are probably not turning on each other, but the Blue Collar group is so dysfunctional that you can get rid of a few of the No Collars, and then they will start to turn on each other. They’ve proven to be so dysfunctional that the likes of Sierra and Rodney could go every which-way … if they don’t already at the merge.
