‘iZombie’ season 1, episode 4 review: Is Clive a dirty cop? Also, Liv knows Kung Fu!
Liv and Clive are starting to become a winning investigative team on “iZombie”, but what happens when Clive doesn’t want her help anymore? That is what we are going to be facing in tonight’s all new episode. Why wouldn’t he want her help? Se has been the one person to help his failing career get a boost and even have his colleagues start to treat him a little better. This won’t be easy on Liv either as she has started to like helping the police department as well as her developing friendship with Clive.
Blaine: He has found a sugar mama – the woman that he slept with and turned into a zombie doesn’t seem to be that mad with him as she is still sleeping with him and paying for him to be pampered, manicured and tanned. Blaine has two zombie cronies doing brain delivers for him, but now they are getting ready to stage a mutiny! They’ve taken his client list and are trying to under cut Blaine on the brain market, but when he learns of their plan Blaine executes them and brings in two new guys.
Major: Because Liv moved out, Major has had a few roommates that haven’t worked out (and he hasn’t asked his new girlfriend to move in at this point since the relationship is still new) and she feels guilty leaving him high and dry. Liv has a chance to meet Major’s new girlfriend (Corinne) for the first time and as expected it was awkward. It gets a little more awkward once Liv starts thinking that Corinne is angling to move in with him, and suggests that Ravi should move in with Major instead, but he’s happy where he is. Liv goes behind Ravi’s back and suggests to Major that Ravi is looking for a roommate and while at first he’s a little peeved by it, after they talk further they realize that they have a lot in common and Ravi agrees.
Clive: He knows this week’s victim and there’s something he’s hiding, so he doesn’t want Liv to be involved with this case. When she has some visions of Clive doing some unsavory things when he worked vice and she wonders if he’s a dirty cop. She finds out that he was suspended from vice and that the department wasn’t sad to see him go to homicide. As it turns out, Clive is not a dirty cop, but instead had been working under cover to take down a gang and that working undercover had really taken it’s toll on him over the years.
It was great to see an episode focused on Clive since we really love him and wanted to get a deeper look into him and his past, so it was nice not to have to wait a long time for that to happen. Also, Liv dispensing her own brand of brain infused kung fu was a lot of fun! Episode grade: B-
