ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Shameless’ actress to add drama to Cyrus’ life

This is how good “Scandal” is for the most part at keeping secrets. We’ve only just learned of one of the latest casting teasers for the ABC show’s new episode tonight, and it is someone who you’ve come to know on TV as of late … at least if you enjoy “Shameless” and keep track of the children Frank Gallagher has.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Emily Bergl has been cast to play the part of Janet, Cyrus’ former ex-wife, during Thursday night’s “Put a Ring on It” episode. If you have seen some of the sneak previews, then you know already that this is a very Cyrus-heavy episode that revolves more or less around him preparing to marry Michael. Why do that? It follows up Michael getting himself in a tricky position, and a wedding, especially one at a patriotic place like the White House, will distract and divert attention. Maybe it is a chance for Cyrus to be happy, but more than anything else this probably should just be looked at as a chance for Olivia Pope to continue to show why she’s so good at her job.

In explaining Janet’s role in this episode, coupled with the entire story, Jeff Perry had the following to say to the website:

“We’re going to learn about moments in James and Cyrus’ life that we’ve never explored before, and we’re going to throw a bit of a light on something that haunts Cyrus.”

For those of you who do love James, it should also be a thrill to find out more about what he and Cyrus were like during happier times … and hopefully, while James was actually still alive.
