NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Hannah Kirby, Caitlin Caporale face off on Team Pharrell

The latest -Last night, “The Voice” had one of our favorite battles we’ve ever seen, as Koryn Hawthorne and Kimberly Nichole gave us vocal acrobatics to the point where an entire circus could be forming all about them. We pity anyone who has to follow that up.

For Hannah Kirby and Caitlin Caporale, this is the challenge as the two square off as members of Team Pharrell Williams. After watching both of them perform twice, we still have no idea which way Pharrell could go here. After all, this is almost entirely going to be a battle based off of preference, and whichever one of these two Pharrell wants to go forward with. They are both great, but at very different things.

If Pharrell wants to go with the literal meaning behind “The Voice,” then it feels pretty clear to us that he should select Caitlin. Her take on the Demi Lovato song “Warrior” was almost pitch-perfect, and we’ve nary seen her hit a bum note all season. However, there’s something about Hannah that we just cannot shake. Her vocals on “Higher Love” were great, but there is a way that she moves about the stage that is so unusual, it is completely endearing. She is a true original, and that makes us want to see more of her.

Ultimately, this is one of those battles we really want to see the steal used. If whoever loses here is stolen, then it may make up for the loss of Clinton Washington last night (bummed as we were to see that happen then).
