‘Poldark’ episode 4 preview: Ross’ reveal; Demelza’s concern

Are you still enjoying “Poldark” on the BBC? Three episodes in, and the show is giving us a tremendous amount of promise. With “Downton Abbey” ending very soon on ITV, this is the series that in many ways has to shape up as the heir apparent. It’s also a little sunnier and more outdoorsy in a way than the ITV smash, which gives it an opportunity to attract itself to a different scope of fans.

Next week’s new episode is the fourth of the season, and the aftermath of Ross and Demelza’s wedding will be felt almost all across the board. One of them, in fact, will be receiving quite the invitation! Take a look at the synopsis below:

“News of Ross and Demelza’s marriage spreads through the community, damaging Wheal Leisure’s prospects. Demelza is filled with anxiety when Francis and Elizabeth invite the newlyweds to spend Christmas at Trenwith.”

To think, Christmas is no longer just going to be reserved for the holiday season on the BBC anymore. We’re going to get a chance to see something about it in March! Then again, in doing so you may just find yourself increasingly envious and/or wishing that it actually was Christmas. These things do tend to happen from time to time.

Overall, this is a rich and very enjoyable series; while there still are some nagging issues when it comes to pacing, it is giving us the gift of a scripted series worth writing about on Sunday night following the end of “Call the Midwife.”
