‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: Ryan Eggold on Tom’s feelings for Liz

The Blacklist logo any seasonIs Tom Keen really still in love with his ex-wife Liz? What we learned at the end of this past new episode of “The Blacklist” was mostly that there is still some sort of connection between the two characters, and there is a certain level of care he feels for her. Otherwise, there is almost a zero percent chance that he opts to take the fall for the murder of the harbormaster, and we see Megan Boone’s character sent away to prison for at least a decent stretch of time.

While it is still to be seen just how much Tom will try to care for Liz in the future, we do at least know that there are specific reasons why he chose to do what he did on this past episode … and not all of them were for the sake of a mission. Just take a look at what Ryan Eggold had to say in a post-mortem interview with TV Guide:

“He is undeniably drawn to her. He spent two-plus years with the woman, so she’s one of the few people in this world that he has a connection to, even if it was under false pretenses at first. He still lived with her and shared a bed with her and showered with her and all of these things, so I don’t think that is lost on Tom. I think it affects him.”

From here, Eggold suggests that what we could really see moving into the future is some soul-searching for Tom. Travel doesn’t seem to be on the top of his priority list, and he may be more uncertain about his present plans than we have seen him in some time.

The show is clearly keeping coy about some of what they have planned for the character; after all, he is not even really a part of the new promo!
