‘Girls’ season 4, episode 9 preview: How does Hannah handle her father’s reveal?

Throughout this past episode of “Girls,” we learned something that really surprised Hannah Horvath: Her father is gay. His marriage is crumbling more than ever, and she has to figure out how she really wants to handle this news. The last episode ended with her figuring this out, so we haven’t seen her process it just yet.

Given the sort of character Hannah is, it is pretty safe to assume that the majority of people in the world would handle this better than she will. Instead if trying to use any sort of discretion at all, she will instead by sharing this news to basically everyone who is willing to listen. She’s always been a notorious oversharer, so you should not be too shocked by all of this.

Given that there are only two episodes left, though, we will see the focus bounce around almost like a beach ball from one character to the next. For example, we’re going to learn in here that Ray’s campaign is continuing with the help of Shoshanna, that Jessa and her name man Ace (Zachary Quinto) could actually make Mimi-Rose a little bit jealous, and that there are some other odds and ends that will need to be dealt with. Strangely, there’s nothing in here in regards to Marnie and Desi’s newfound engagement, which shocks us because it feels like there is a 60% chance that this relationship does not last past the finale.

We respect shows that show some sort of restraint, so we have no problem with “Girls” opting to have such a short season. With that in mind, this show has a huge challenge in trying to tie together all of its present loose ends.
