‘Hart of Dixie’ may not be officially canceled yet; however…

Hart of Dixie -Tonight is the last hiatus that you are going to have before the final episodes of “Hart of Dixie” season 4 start to air … and it could even end up being the final episodes of the series.

We wrote a good week ago that creator Leila Gerstein was far from optimistic about the show, stating more or less on Twitter that these were going to be the final episodes. As if that was not telling enough, a tweet from Scott Porter’s Twitter (which was later deleted) effectively echoes that: “Folks wondering why #HartOfDixie got canned? Simple numbers game folks. Ratings still matter and dictate wins and losses. You have to WATCH.” The funny thing here is that we feel like more people are actually watching this season than last, and if nothing else, the show has made things harder on The CW than they probably expected it to be.

The main issue the show faces is real estate. The CW only programs five nights a week and ten hours overall, and eight of those hours for the fall are already filled. This is without even mentioning “iZombie,” which has yet to premiere, and any new series that are currently in the pilot stage. If the show is renewed, where do you place it? This is a good question. While “Reign” draws equal ratings to it, we feel like The CW is more invested in keeping a CBS-produced show at this point.

So the show isn’t officially canceled, but we don’t exactly have much hope at this point.
