‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8, episode 18 review: Honoring Howard’s mother over dinner

The Big Bang TheoryThe Big Bang Theory” aired its final episode of March tonight, and it was billed at leas tin part as an emotional one. While the show has honored Mrs. Wolowitz on a few occasions already, this was the closest thing that we’ve had to a full-on tribute. The entire gang gathered together at her home, where they all dined on some of the last leftovers in her fridge. This was a chance to have her food one final time, and celebrate a little bit more of her life.

Of course, much of this story was framed around something else entirely: A scientific paper crediting Sheldon for a concept that Leonard was really responsible for. He just excelled at the execution of all of it. This carried over to the dinner, mostly because Sheldon refused to relent and give in that Leonard deserved more credit than he was getting.

In the end, though, what was important here was Howard’s mother, and these characters were forgetting it. This was meant to be a very emotional event for the two of them. There was an added element of comedy in here, as we even saw Bernadette do a little bit of an impression of Debbie while yelling at Sheldon and Leonard in the other room for their antics.

This episode was enjoyable, but for some reason, it also felt like it was over in the blink of an eye. Maybe we were enjoying it too much to really stop and catch a breath, but we’re going to miss this show the next few weeks. Grade: B.
