ABC’s ‘Castle’ star Nathan Fillion teams with fellow ‘Firefly’ alum Alan Tudyk for ‘Con Man’

Con Man -Everyone wants to see more of “Firefly” and that universe on TV. However, it doesn’t seem like that is going to happen anytime soon. The show was canceled many moons ago, and creator Joss Whedon is currently more than preoccupied with “The Avengers” and other projects, not to mention the cast.

Luckily, it does appear that you could have a chance to at least see Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk working together on something again the future. This is where the Indiegogo campaign today for “Con Man” comes from. Tudyk created this idea about an actor named Wray Nerely who was a part of a beloved-but-canceled science fiction show who goes around and hits the convention circuit. Meanwhile, Fillion would co-star (and film most likely on the rare occasions he has off time from “Castle“) in the role of Jack Moore, Wray’s former co-star who ended up becoming a big name in Hollywood. It’s a simple but entertaining idea, and this is something that has not quite been done before on a series. Tudyk promised many familiar sci-fi names would be cast on the show; at least in the video on the campaign page, you get cameos from Seth Green, Felicia Day, James Gunn, and Tudyk’s former onscreen love interest Gina Torres.

Clearly, there is passion out there for this project. In just a few hours the project has met nearly three-quarters of its asking price, which basically ensures that this will be made. It’s also further proof of what sort of enthusiasm is still out there for anything that has connections to “Firefly.” Let this be a sign that crowdfunding really can work with the right product!

At the aforementioned link, you can find out about some of the rewards that you can get for supporting the show, and there are some pretty cool ones including credits on the show or getting to name a character.
