‘The Walking Dead’ season 5, episode 13 reaction: Norman Reedus on Daryl, Eric, Aaron, and spaghetti

Daryl -We have already seen Daryl Dixon be one heck of a guarded individual, but one of the fun things to come out of “The Walking Dead” going to Alexandria is seeing some of those layers start to peel off ever so slightly.

For example, let’s talk spaghetti. While Daryl was not necessarily one to attend a big party thrown by Deanna, he did have no problem sitting down and getting a quick bite to eat with Aaron and Eric. Why these two? It was just a chance to really get away from it all, and have a more casual, human experience that he has not had in a very long time. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Norman Reedus describes his scene with these two characters, and why he chose to eat with them, as follows:

“Spaghetti is spaghetti, you know what I’m saying.[Laughs] I think that he trusts Aaron. There’s something about it where he trusts him, but I also don’t think Daryl has anywhere to go. Everyone is doing this and they’re excited about this party and they’re interested in seeing who these people are. I don’t think Daryl feels like he belongs there and that’s part of the reason that he’s so hesitant about the whole town. He feels like he’s not one of them and he’s basically gone through this stuff with his own family, so to speak. He’s always got a chip on his shoulder and I think he’s going to that chip-on-his-shoulder ways.”

Ultimately, Daryl seems to be in a good spot. He had that moment with Carol at the end, and he also has a job tracking potential newcomers to the town that seems right up his alley and will cater to his outdoorsman mentality.
