‘Call the Midwife’ season 5 spoilers: Premiere date speculation, more for BBC drama

Call the Midwife -Tonight, the road on “Call the Midwife” season 4 reaches its end with an episode that will hopefully be heartfelt, hopeful, and emotional at the same time. In other words, everything that we expect to see from the BBC series at this point.

Now that we’ve said this, what does the future hold exactly for the series? The first thing that we can tell you is that there is no real reason to be afraid in the immediate future. The network has already confirmed that there will be a fifth season of the show, even if the specific cast is not entire cast is not entirely clear for it just yet. Given that we’ve already lost Jessica Raine and we had a whole lot less Miranda Hart this season, we would not be shocked if there was more turnover.

As for the premiere date, it’s still a little early to say, no? We can offer you for the time being that there will be most likely another Christmas Special, and then the new season should premiere in January of next year. Filming as not even started just yet and will not for a little while longer, but we should have more news on that as we get into the summer.

As for how long this series can last, we feel like it is reasonably flexible at this point. It’s not really anchored by any one character anymore, or by a single family like “Downton Abbey.” Really, the show could in theory go as long as showrunner Heidi Thomas desires and the ratings are decent.
