Yep, those are the three words that you never want to hear when discussing “Talking Dead“: “Surprise cast member.” More often than not, that means that something terrible is going to happen on “The Walking Dead” right before the show.
In this case, though, we’re not entirely sure that this should be an indictment for sure on what happens during the episode tonight. After all, there are plenty of different possibilities for what could be going down. It could just be that a character makes a surprising decision, or that they have a human moment that you don’t see coming. The reason for keeping a “Talking Dead” appearance quiet is simply so that you don’t assume that anything big is happening to a given character on an episode in advance. It doesn’t for sure mean the Grim Reaper is coming to pay a visit.
As for seeing Ross Marquand and having his name announced in advance, that just makes sense. He is one of the most notable new additions of this back eight episodes, and Aaron is also the first gay male character featured on the show. This, coupled with being the connection between Rick’s group and Alexandria, make him a critical part of the equation.
As for Kevin Smith, that just makes sense from an AMC point of view given that “Comic Book Men” is the only unscripted show other than “Talking Dead” still airing regularly on the network. He also has a relationship with Chris Hardwick, given that he just appeared on “@midnight” earlier this past week.
