‘American Crime’ episode 2 preview: Barb, Russ take the next step

American Crime -Tonight on ABC, we had the debut of a very ambitious new series entitled “American Crime.” It’s difficult at this point to tell a crime show on network TV. There are millions of them out there, and that makes it very difficult to try to stand out.

Luckily, this series has a few things going for it creatively in order to break from the mold. It is more serialized in nature, and tells more of its story from the standpoint of the victim’s parents and the suspects more so than the officers. It’s a more personal take, and as you find out more and more about the struggles and skeletons buried away, you will start to feel for the characters more. Just don’t expect things to be easy; this is a difficult, gritty network drama.

If you enjoyed tonight’s premiere on ABC, take a look below at the synopsis for the next all-new installment. It gives you a sense as to where the story goes from here:

“Thirty-six hours have passed and reality is starting to sink in for all sides. Barb and Russ must come face-to-face with the suspects, Carter and Aubry, for the first time at the arraignment hearing. For Aubry and Carter, the hearing is their first opportunity to see one another since being arrested. Elsewhere, Tony finds himself terrified and alone as he gets placed into juvenile detention. The gravity of the situation weighs heavy on his father, Alonzo. Hector’s legal troubles are compounded when the investigators discover an existing warrant for his arrest in Mexico. With more unsettling facts being uncovered about Matt and Gwen, relations between Barb and Russ, and Tom and Eve grow increasingly strained as they disagree on where Matt’s body should be buried.”
