‘Suits’ season 4 finale: Show boss on huge Gabriel Macht – Sarah Rafferty story
It’s clear to us that almost from start to finish, the cast and crew on “Suits” Wednesday night completely killed it with the finale. It was an emotional episode for sure that showed you through both the past and present how Harvey’s relationship with Donna has evolved. We saw them meet, how she wanted to work for him, and the appreciation that they shared.
However, it started to become a little bit chaotic when feelings started to enter, and Harvey became unclear with just what he really wanted from her. This was in part one of the reasons why Sarah Rafferty’s character decided at the end of the episode to take off to work with Louis Litt, and that is something that will reverberate throughout the early portion of season 5.
So does Harvey really love Harvey, or just love her in the sense that he cares about her deeply? It’s a complex question, and speaking to TVLine after the finale, show creator Aaron Korsh gives you a complex answer:
“I believe that in Harvey’s mind, he obviously loves Donna. That’s clear as a bell in terms of his affection for her and his bond with her. And he also, at times, can be attracted to her, obviously. But I don’t think that he thinks she is The One for him. Now, he could be wrong. I’m not saying he’s right. But I don’t think that at this time in his life, Harvey thinks Donna is The One for him. And that could be the result of any number of reasons. It could be that he’s got some kind of emotional block, which is a result of his past. It could just be that he’s an idiot and doesn’t see what’s right in front of him. I suppose it’s possible that he’s just correct that ultimately they would not work well together. [Laughs] But clearly, he cares about her as much, or more than, anybody else in his life. That’s absolutely true.”
Harvey and Louis are likely going to clash both early and often throughout the fifth season as a result of this. Ultimately, we feel like this could be something that benefits Harvey greatly in the end. After all, Harvey not having the woman he cares about around may be the motivation he needs to realize just how deep that level of care is.
New episodes of “Suits” will premiere on USA in the summer. We’ll have more news before then.
