FXX renews ‘Man Seeking Woman,’ we rejoice

The latest -Cheers to FXX for taking a chance on “Man Seeking Woman.” While this may not be the highest-rated series out there (as a matter of fact, it’s probably closer to the opposite), this is the relatively-new network showing that above all else, they are going to put a great deal of thought and care into giving shows a chance.

In a statement today, executive producer Simon Rich said the following about getting a chance to share some more stories featuring Jay Baruchel and the rest of the cast: “Working on Man Seeking Woman has been the creative highlight of my life … FXX gave us the freedom to make the show we love and they let us build some truly disgusting monsters. I’m so grateful to John Landgraf and his team for believing in us and I can’t wait to get back to work.”

For those who have not seen the series, “Man Seeking Woman” is almost a surrealist take on a man getting out in the world again after a breakup. A great way to compare it is almost an adult version of Calvin & Hobbes, where you see things through the exaggerated eye of one character. The metaphorical in a sense often becomes the literal, where during the pilot he compared his ex’s new boyfriend to Hitler … and it actually was Hitler.

This show is really funny, different, and worth a shot. While its ratings are higher than the primetime average for FXX, we obviously feel like this renewal was meant to encourage fans to keep telling their friends to check out the show. It you enjoy zany, strange comedies, this one is going to be up your alley.
