When Monday night’s “Gotham” airs, it appears that there are going to be many a complicated situation play out. For example, you are going to learn just why the Commissioner is able to hold on to the level of power that he has in the city: Ultimately, it is all tied back to how he is capable of control everyone using their secrets.
We’ve wondered why the title for episode 18 is “Everyone Has a Cobblepot” for some time, and now, it’s made clear. This is a reference to Jim’s own onetime secret regarding Cobblepot and the pier from the pilot. Everyone has there own secret from the past that they would rather not explain. In the case of Harvey Bullock, he may have metaphorically taken someone to the pier with a different result.
As Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue explain in the video below, Bullock and Gordon are left with a difficult decision: Continue to pursue the Commissioner, or run the risk of Bullock losing any authority that he has. Nothing is black and white in this world, as we’ve come to learn over the past several weeks.
Also, this preview teases that Gordon could at some point come to the Penguin with a very important favor. However, and much like Rumpelstiltskin on “Once Upon a Time,” Oswald is going to want something in return. Jim has to figure out over the course of this episode whether or not this is something that he is going to be able to handle hanging over him.
