‘Glee’ series finale spoilers: Darren Criss co-writes song to be performed be Lea Michele

Blaine -One of the things that has been interesting about watching the past several seasons of “Glee” has been seeing how many of the show’s characters have broadened their horizons, and shown that they can do so much more than just act. Chris Colfer has already written an episode in “Old Dog, New Tricks,” and of course he is also now a best-selling author courtesy of his The Land of Stories series. Lea Michele has branched out into writing, Kevin McHale and Naya Rivera into hosting, and Amber Riley into ballroom dancing.

In addition to all of that, Darren Criss has shown time and time again a knack for all things performing, having done a concert tour and appeared on Broadway. He is also going back to the stage after his time on the show is over. Before then, he has also contributed a song to be performed near the end of the series by Lea Michele! Per The Hollywood Reporter, the song is named “Rise,” and it will be performed during the two-hour series finale. He also has another song entitled “This Time,” which he wrote alongside Theo Katzman, Sam Hollander, Andrew Thielk, Eddie Montilla and Korey Richmond. It will be featured during “The Rise and Fall of Sue Sylvester.”

Original music is something we wish “Glee” had done even more of, especially over the past couple of years when the ratings were starting to drop a little bit. This is a tremendous opportunity for Darren to show off his talent, and we will have to see how it translates.

We’ll be back later with a review for tonight’s “Glee” episode. Stay tuned.
