‘Supergirl’ spoilers: Dean Cain, former Supergirl Helen Slater book secret roles

We’re not sure that we have ever heard as much when it comes to pilot casting as we have with “Supergirl,” but at the same time, we are also not complaining.

Also, we are definitely not complaining courtesy of the latest super-exciting casting news! According to a new report from TVLine, former Supergirl Helen Slater is booked in some sort of guest-starring role in the pilot episode. This moves feels somewhat reminiscent of John Wesley Shipp joining “The Flash” in a recurring role, since it is a tribute to the original product. It’s always nice to honor the old while creating something new, which is what executive producer Greg Berlanti has shown with many of his shows at the moment.

Also, how about a former Superman joining her? Dean Cain of “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” has also signed on for a secret guest spot. These two do have some sort of experience already with comebacks, having both made appearances on “Smallville” over the years.

This pilot is being filmed in the weeks ahead, and we will most likely see something more about it by May at the latest. Typically, this is when trailers for new series are released to the public. “Supergirl” is a huge gamble for CBS, who has for the most part stayed true to mostly providing us with crime procedurals and other dramas. Let’s hope that it is one that pays off when the show comes on the air, mostly likely in the fall. (This will also be revealed in May.)
