‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: More on a Skye-centric series of episodes

It’s felt like a long time since we’ve seen “Agents of SHIELD” on the air, and in TV terms, it has been. Tuesday night marks the first episode of 2015, and given what we saw during the midseason finale, this could be important to so much more than the show; it could impact the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After all, we are seeing with Skye / Daisy Johnson the birth of the Inhumans storyline, and while we know there is a specific feature film coming up about these characters, this will be a worthy introduction. We are also going to find out quite a bit more about her through the rest of the season. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly on the subject of the character, executive producer Jeff Bell gave you an idea of what you can expect:

“I think [Skye playing a big part is] a very safe assumption. I think everyone has an opinion not only about Skye, but about people with powers. And suddenly, you’ve got this person you knew who comes in feeling different, and what does that mean both for her and for everyone else on the team? It is, in many ways, the axis around which around a lot of the back half of this season will emerge from.”

Ultimately, we just hope that there are a variety of different surprises in store still, and that we get to see at least her powers manifest in a couple of new, exciting ways. Given the element of surprise in the midseason finale, we’re willing to leave most expectations at the door.
