‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 star Andrew J. West lands new leading role on CW project

The latest -Andrew J. West was incredibly underrated during his time as Gareth on “The Walking Dead.” He also happened to be around for far too short a stretch of time. It is with that in mind that we are very happy to be here and reporting today that West has found himself a new project without wasting a whole lot of time at all!

According to a report from Deadline, West has snagged the lead role in “Dead People” a pilot produced by J.J. Abrams and Tom Kapinos that focuses on a cab driver who has gone through hard times, but after he has a near-death experience, starts to be able to interact with people who have already passed on. This apparently includes his wife that he has not moved on from, which means that we could have the first ghost romance on TV since Jeremy and Anna were getting close on “The Vampire Diaries” back when he had that power. (Those were the days!)

This premise sounds a little like that Ricky Gervais movie “Ghost Town,” but it is probably meant to be very different in tone and does not star a British comic. The CW obviously has great success with supernatural ideas, including “Supernatural” itself. The problem that any pilot for this network has is a lack of real estate. All of their current Monday-Thursday shows are coming back, and we have not even seen yet what “iZombie” is going to do when it premieres next month. We’re feeling at least reasonably optimistic. It’s possible that we only see a few pilots picked up.

Ultimately, we’ll find out more about this show and many more well before the CW upfronts in May.
