‘The Good Wife’ season 6 spoilers: How will Archie Panjabi leave the show?

Kalinda -While the Kalinda character on “The Good Wife” has become a little less of an institution over the course of the past few seasons, think back to the early years of the show and how good she was. We’re not surprised that Archie Panjabi is leaving; the series is still tremendous, but it has never quite been the same for her since the whole Nick storyline played out.

Now that everyone knows exactly what Panjabi plans on doing, the entire challenge now falls on the producers to figure out how to write this character out. Clearly, there are discussions, but executive producers Robert and Michelle King said the following to TVLine about how they are dealing with expectations caused by having such an important character depart, and how difficult it is when everyone knows in advance:

“The job is a little more difficult this year. We had luck and very good CBS information control in that we were able to hide that Josh Charles was leaving the show [last season]. We don’t have that advantage this year. So, a lot of what we’re doing is playing with audience expectations of how [Kalinda’s exit] might happen. We’re only maybe seven or eight weeks ahead of the audience in what we’re shooting and writing, and what’s really good about that is you can take into account what their feelings are about episodes, what their feelings are about the arc of the season, and you can even vary it a little. We can’t turn water into wine, or black into white, but we can vary the expectations.”

Given that this show has a 95% track record of doing things right, we’re confident that they will figure things out. We just expect that it will be emotional as we start to near the end.
