‘The Bastard Executioner’ cast: Katey Sagal, Stephen Moyer, Kurt Sutter, and more

FX -As production looms for the FX pilot “The Bastard Executioner,” we are beginning to learn a little more about the cast that Kurt Sutter has assembled for his first post-“Sons of Anarchy” project. You would think that the man would want to rest a little after spending over seven years on such an extensive process, but instead, it feels like he is taking on more work than ever before.

Why is that? We’ve assembled a list of some of the cast members per Deadline, and it turns out that Kurt may be playing an even more prominent role onscreen here than he did as Otto in his previous series.

Lee Jones – A relatively unknown actor in America, Jones is playing the lead Wilkin Brattle. He is a former knight with a challenging past, who seems to be living a somewhat simpler life at least at the start of the pilot.

Katey Sagal – The “Sons of Anarchy” alum and Sutter’s wife will be Annora of the Alders. She seems to almost be a master of mysticism, potions, and the like.

Kurt Sutter – He will play the Dark Mute, a lover of Annora’s who barely ever speaks and never shows his face.

Stephen Moyer – The “True Blood” alum and noted “Sons of Anarchy” fan will play Milus Corbett, a “Chamberlain, Chancellor and Justiciar” for a prominent figure in the kingdom.

Flora Spencer-Longhurst – The “Leonardo” alum will play Baroness Lowry ‘Love’ Aberffraw Ventris, a cunning woman in a political marriage.

The rest of the cast right now includes Sam Spruell, Timothy V. Murphy (who was Galen on “Sons of Anarchy”), “Galavant” actor Darren Evans, Danny Sapani, Sarah White, and Sarah Sweeny. Meanwhile, Matthew Rhys is going to recur, but it will not interfere with “The Americans” should that show be renewed.

The cast for this series is impressive, and we know Sutter has been scouting locations in Wales for some time. While it has not officially been ordered to series, it feels likely that it will given Sutter’s strong relationship with FX.
