‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: A deeper look at ‘Blast from the Past’
The past few episodes of “NCIS” have been pretty emotional. After all, you had the death of Diane, Fornell’s attempts to cope with it, and also the rise of Sergei as a formidable rival on the show. This has been a whole lot to deal with, and this show has always been a little bit of a balance between the serious and softer, lighter moments.
So with all of this in mind, we’re glad that next week’s new episode “Blast from the Past” at least seems to be reasonably fun on the surface … and the latest promo below, and our attached image, is the latest bit of evidence of that. The premise here is fairly simple: Apparently, Gibbs had a past alter ego who was in the tech industry, and a moment comes that calls on him to bring this alias back. What makes this difficult is that this is not the days of “Halt and Catch Fire” anymore, and this is not going to be a very easy cover for him to maintain.
With that in mind, we could have Gibbs acting almost as a remote-controlled figure for McGee, Bishop, and some other tech-minded people … and this should be very fun. Awkward Gibbs is almost always entertaining. We’re sure that there will be serious moments in here, but they will also be mixed up with a sizable dose of humor.
Hopefully, we are going to have some further news related to this episode soon, so stay tuned! Typically, sneak peeks are released at some point on Monday.

I am very excited for this one. I love any Gibbs moments but especially those awkward, humorous situations and McGee has come into his own with his understated and subtle comedy. As well received as the emotional Gibbs/Fornell scenes were from reviewers last week — and I was very moved and impressed — I’m ready for something lighter in the mix. This has been an outstanding season. I’ll have my phone off and my tv on this Tuesday night, as usual!

Yup – another McGibbs episode. Tony won’t do anything as usual. Well let’s face it, Tony’s had his yearly one and done so don’t expect to see him do anything else of significance this season. (Although I guess we’ll get to see Tony comically squirm when Senior is the feature player in an upcoming episode – but of course the episode will be of no actual significance in the larger scheme of things in the NCIS world). And when we get to the big danger filled season finale arc it will no doubt feature either super Gibbs or McGibbs again. It seems to be the unbreakable law in the Glasburg/Harmon era that Tony be absolutely insignificant in the biggest, most promoted multi episode story arcs. They never deviate from this.

Bishiop isn’t tech minded, beyond typing on a laptop. I expect this will be mostly McGee/Gibbs, the new partners this year. Tony no long does anything important.
