‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Walking Dead’ alum cast in ‘Chicago Med’ pilot

For those of you wondering who the next “Walking Dead” alumni would be to score a potential series-regular gig, we now have an answer: Laurie Holden. The actress, best known for playing Andrea for several seasons of the AMC hit, has signed on to be on the upcoming “Chicago Fire” backdoor pilot for “Chicago Med.”

According to Deadline, Holden will play the part of Dr. Hannah Tramble, a prestigious surgeon who will use some of her troubles from a rough childhood to further motivate her into being one of the best in her field. We’ve already reported on who will play the head of this hospital, and there are still a variety of other names to be announced.

The idea for a “Chicago Med” series is not even remotely knew, given that the idea was first discussed at some point last year. However, now is when it is finally coming to fruition. While it may have both “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Fire” behind it, in addition to “Law & Order: SVU” and executive producer Dick Wolf, we are not entirely sure that this show is going to be picked up just yet. We have to see what the pilot is like when it airs as episode 19 of “Chicago Fire,” and we also need to learn more about the other NBC pilots.

One other issue that needs to be considered here? While the Chicago shows draw steady ratings, we’re not a believe that they are necessarily through the roof. The ceiling here could be lower than some other drama series, and “Empire” proves that sometimes, all you need is one good idea.
